My InstaWeek: It’s Beginning to Look (But Not Feel) a Lot Like Christmas…

November 18, 2013 9:18 am

My first full week back in Cape Town was spent mostly locked up in my study, treat trying to chip away at this mound of deadlines I amassed during my travels. I did break out a few times, though – mostly for reporting missions, naturally.

All roads seem to take me back to colorful Bo-Kaap (did you see my story on the neighborhood’s cuisine in the Washington Post this weekend?). This is my favorite mosque, a lovely sea green with icing-like trim.

Another reporting mission sent me to Shimmy Beach Club, the sexiest lounge in town, day or night. Tough life, I know.

I also made some time for the Food Routes launch event at the lovely, art-filled Delaire Graff wine estate in Stellenbosch.

I had a pretty busy weekend (even if I didn’t document much of it), but I did take a moment at the mall to contemplate how weird it is getting into the Christmas spirit while it’s 75 degrees out. I guess this is what life in California is like, eh?

So that was my low-key (on Instagram, anyway) InstaWeek, how was yours?
