Considering how well I document my gluttony on social media, visit web people are constantly asking me what to eat and where to eat it in Cape Town. I finally have the ultimate list for you, check courtesy food bible Eater.com: they asked me to compile a list of Cape Town’s 18 essential restaurants. Read it here, and happy eating!

  • Thanks for the list Sarah – I am going to have to accept a challenge to try to visit all of these in the next year or so. Despite having lived in Cape Town for 6 years now I haven’t been to any of them.

    Do you know any of them in particular suitable for young children? My excuse for not having visited too many nice restaurants is my 2,4 and 7 year olds!

      Please let me know if you do make it through them all, I’d love to hear your thoughts! I wouldn’t classify any of them other than the markets as OVERLY kid-friendly – ie, no designated play areas or anything – but as this is Cape Town, I’d say pretty much every spot is OK to take kids to, except perhaps the fine-fine dining spots. My favorite kid-friendly spot remains the Company’s Garden Restaurant on a warm day – the swings and nests are great fun for kids… and adults too 😉
